Work I have completed to date#

Networking:-

1) Newcastle High School - Library:- 14 Computer LAN using coaxial cable, Including installation & setup of TCP/IP on all machines for internet/intranet usage.Installation of 4 New Network Cards and all configuration completed. Setup of Microsoft file & printer sharing, including drive mapping to central server and print sharing from central print server. Setup of 1 Unix style proxy (Delegate daemon 5.7.1) cascaded to Ozemail's DSE (Department of School Education) proxy server. Intranet services setup, including installation & configuration of an intranet web server. HTML written for intranet web server, to warn users about usage rights on the specific network and information on usage logs and various educational links. Maintenance & updates performed on web server & proxy when necessary. Clients configured to use the cascading proxy servers and to deault to the intranet home page. All clients and servers configured with static IP addresses. (NON DHCP)

2) Newcastle High School - Social Science Dept.:-15 Computer LAN using coaxial cable, setup for TCP/IP services on all machines with setup of 1 unix style proxy (delegate Daemon 5.7.1) and internet account with Hunterlink Newcastle. 14 Clients setup to browse internet through proxy, with use of Internet Explorer and/or Netscape. Drive mapping installed and shared drives created on proxy server. Printer sharing enabled on all client machines and all connected to a print server. All clients and servers configured with static IP addresses. (NON DHCP)

3) Newcastle High School - Science Dept.:- 9 Computer LAN configured for TCP/IP services, including clients installed with internet explorer and configured for later use of a proxy. All clients configured for mapped drives from central server. All clients configured with static IP addresses. (NON DHCP)

4) Newcastle High School - Maths/Language Dept.:- 6 Computers Networked on to already established 10BaseT Netware network. Configured to use DHCP for IP addresses. IP's provided by a Netware file server. All clients installed with Internet explorer and configured to use established Maths Proxy running wingate. Central server created on one of the machines and drives mapped. 2 seperate machines also acted as print servers, and were configured accordingly.

5) Herald Evans Brew (Lawyers):- Configured already established network for TCP/IP services for internet usage. Jana proxy server installed on central server and configured for web access and also e-mail access by port mapping. 5 clients configured to use web services (Internet explorer) and e-mail facilities (outlook express) through the proxy. Instructions on use provided for staff of the firm.

Repairs/Upgrades/Construction:-

I have repaired, rebuilt, upgraded and constructed many computers.

I have upgraded 386, 486, 586 (AMD & Cyrix), 686 (AMD & Cyrix), Pentium & Pentium II CPU's and motherboards. (including all jumper configs for motherboards, according to cpu & hardware type)

I have installed 30 pin, 72 pin and 168 pin Ram SIMMs & DIMMs. IDE Hard drives, Floppy disk drives, CD roms, CD rom controllers, SCSI Controllers & SCSI Hard drives. ISA, PCI & AGP Video Cards, PCI & AGP 3D Accelerators (3DFX, etc). Internal & external modems, ISA & PCI sound cards, monitors, power supplies, cases (with leds and speakers connected), scanners & printers.

I have constructed several complete computer systems, including my own, my parents', my friend's, and one of my school's (Music Dept.), all from scratch.

I have spent hours repairing computers for myself, friends and my high school. Including repairs to hardware and software, Data recovery & reinstallation of newer hardware/software.
